Nicosia

Getting there and around. Nicosia connects to Limassol via the A1 motorway, a 73 km at-grade-intersection-free highway with a 100 km/h limit, giving a drive time of just over an hour. Intercity Buses also run the route roughly hourly on weekdays, taking about 1 hour 45 minutes between Limassol New Port and central Nicosia.Source ↗

Good to know. Nicosia is the last divided capital city in the world: the UN-patrolled Green Line, named after the colour of pen a British officer used to mark it on a map in 1963, still splits the old town into Greek Cypriot and Turkish Cypriot quarters.Source ↗

Nearby. Greater Nicosia is a contiguous urban cluster of the old city plus the municipalities of Strovolos, Aglantzia, Engomi, Agios Dometios, Lakatamia and Latsia, with Geri and Tseri added in 2011. It sits at the centre of Nicosia district, roughly 45 km inland from both Larnaca and the coast.Source ↗

Parking. The municipality runs 20 designated public parking areas across the city, from small 14-space lots to the 352-space Tripolis facility, most with reserved disabled spaces. The popular Ledra-Ariadnis multi-storey near Ledra Street is under phased reconstruction into 2027, so expect reduced capacity and busier street parking near the old town during peak hours.
