Ayia Napa

Getting there and around. Intercity Buses runs the Nicosia to Ayia Napa/Paralimni route roughly hourly, calling at Ayia Napa Monastery, the harbour, Nissi Beach and the Waterworld waterpark; on weekdays the first bus leaves Nicosia around 05:30 and the last around 19:00. Good to know. Ayia Napa was essentially uninhabited around its monastery until a settler arrived from Greece in about 1790, and it stayed a working fishing village until tourism took over in the late 20th century. Its Sculpture Park, opened with just 17 pieces in 2014, had grown to more than 200 sculptures by 140 artists from around the world by 2018.Source ↗

Nearby. Ayia Napa sits at the eastern end of the Famagusta district, close to Paralimni about 6 km to the north and Protaras roughly 12 km away near Cape Greco, with Larnaca the nearest larger city to the west.Source ↗

Parking. Traffic and parking in central Ayia Napa get genuinely difficult, especially in peak summer season, and driving after drinking is enforced strictly by local police. Most visitors are better off walking, cycling or taking a short taxi once they are in town rather than hunting for a space near the harbour or the square.
