Getting there and around. Protaras sits on the eastern tip of Cyprus in the Famagusta district. OSEA's coastal route 101/102 links Protaras with Paralimni and Ayia Napa, stopping at Fig Tree Bay and Konnos Beach, while route 711 runs to Larnaca. It is roughly a 40-55 minute drive from Larnaca International Airport and about 15-20 minutes from Ayia Napa via the Cape Greco coastal road.Source ↗
Nearby. Protaras' nearest neighbour is Paralimni, the area's administrative and commercial centre a short drive inland, with Ayia Napa about 12 km south along the coast. Pernera lies just north along the shore, and the wider Famagusta district frames the whole peninsula.Source ↗
Parking. Parking in Protaras is largely free around residential streets and most beach areas, including free lots behind Eden Square and at Tassou Isaac near the sea. Fig Tree Bay itself gets very busy in July and August, so arriving early is the practical way to get a space near the main beach.Source ↗
Through the year. Summer (June to August) is peak season with temperatures of 35-38C, full hotels and the busiest beach and nightlife scene. Winter (November to March) sees most restaurants and bars close, with cooler 15-18C weather better suited to coastal walks than swimming, and September-October is considered the sweet spot with warm seas and thinning crowds.

Signature events. Protaras hosts the Protaras Summer Film Festival, the island's largest open-air film festival, screening on a big screen at Protaras Central Square each summer. The Fengaros Festival runs late August to mid-September along the promenade near Fig Tree Bay, timed to the full moon with dozens of small stages. Cyprus Rocks, an annual rock music festival, is set on Agia Triada beach in late September/early October.Source ↗
