Getting there and around. Platres sits about 37-39 km northwest of Limassol via the B8 mountain road, a drive of roughly 40-45 minutes. EMEL's rural Route 64 runs Limassol - Saittas - Platres - Troodos - Botanic Garden, the main public bus link into the village.Source ↗

02

Good to know. The British colonial administration discovered Platres in 1878 and turned it into a summer military outpost for English soldiers escaping the heat; by 1890 wealthy Egyptians and Cypriots were building luxury villas there, and Cyprus's first tourist hotel, Ta Krya Nera, opened in 1900.Source ↗

03

Nearby. Platres lies in Limassol district, on the southern slopes of the Troodos Mountains about 5 km from Troodos Square itself.Source ↗

04

Parking. The village's main car park is Platres Square, which charges a metered fee of 1 euro per hour or a flat 20 euros for 24 hours. It serves as the usual starting point for reaching the shops, cafes and nearby waterfall trails on foot.Source ↗

Through the year. At 1,200 metres elevation, Platres sees an average of 11 snowy days a year and cool winters, while summer highs reach only around 27C, making it a traditional escape from coastal heat. Coastal visitors head up in July and August; the village empties out and quietens considerably outside the summer season.Source ↗
