Getting there and around. Platres sits about 37-39 km northwest of Limassol via the B8 mountain road, a drive of roughly 40-45 minutes. EMEL's rural Route 64 runs Limassol - Saittas - Platres - Troodos - Botanic Garden, the main public bus link into the village.Source ↗

The British colonial administration discovered Platres in 1878 and turned it into a summer military outpost for English soldiers escaping the heat; by 1890 wealthy Egyptians and Cypriots were building luxury villas there, and Cyprus's first tourist hotel, Ta Krya Nera, opened in 1900.Source ↗
