Geroskipou

Getting there and around. Geroskipou sits on the coast immediately east of Paphos town and is served by Pafos city bus routes 606, 613 and 631, which run from Paphos Harbour Station and Karavella Station through Geroskipou (Pafiako, Makariou Avenue, the municipal beach) on to Kings Avenue Mall or the airport. Route 613 covers Geroskipou to central Paphos in around 6 minutes.Source ↗

Good to know. Geroskipou is the only place in the world with a protected geographical indication for lokum (Turkish delight), and its name itself means "holy garden" in Greek, a reference to the sacred gardens once dedicated to Aphrodite that stood here. The village also holds one of only two five-domed Byzantine basilicas on the island, the 9th to 11th century Agia Paraskevi church.Source ↗

Nearby. Geroskipou is a separate municipality that borders Paphos directly on its eastern edge, along with the neighbouring communities of Achelia, Timi and Konia. It has resisted government proposals to merge into a single Paphos municipality, preferring closer ties with Timi and Konia instead.Source ↗

Parking. Car parking is provided directly at Geroskipou Municipal Beach, with additional street parking nearby, so a car is the easiest way in even though the village is also walkable from Paphos. Facilities and lifeguard cover at the beach run April to October, so parking pressure eases outside that season.Source ↗
