About Timios Stavros
Timios Stavros is the oldest chapel in Kyperounta, the largest mountain village in the Troodos range, standing just off the central square since Frankish rule. The small single-aisled church, roofed in timber, holds frescoes dated precisely to 1521 and an icon of Saint Marina reckoned among the oldest in its collection, from the thirteenth century. Its feast, the Progression of the Holy Cross, is kept on 1 August. The church now doubles as a small exhibition space for its icons.
