About The Holy Temple of Virgin Mary the Catholic
Panagia tis Katholiki stands in the Troodos village of Pelendri, a three-aisled Byzantine church built around the sixteenth century under a single wooden roof and dedicated to the Virgin Mary. Its wooden iconostasis dates largely from the church's construction, and damaged frescoes of the Crucifixion survive from the same century. The most prized piece inside is an icon of the Virgin painted by Ioannikios in 1693, still venerated by the parish today.
