About Agia Ekaterini
Agia Ekaterini is a 15th-century chapel near Kritou Terra in the Paphos district, built as a metochi, a dependency, of Saint Catherine's Monastery on Mount Sinai. Its three-aisled basilica mixes Byzantine form with Frankish Gothic touches from Lusignan-era Cyprus: a barrel-vaulted nave, pointed side arches, and a domed three-bay narthex. The monastery was abandoned before 1900, badly damaged by the 1952 earthquake, and later repaired; Sinai's monks still hold the title.
