About Toxeftra
Toxeftra lies on the Akamas peninsula north of Paphos, within the Lara-Toxeftra reserve, a 650-hectare protected area created in 2010 and listed as a Specially Protected Area of Mediterranean Importance in 2013. Alongside loggerheads, it holds around 80 percent of Cyprus's green turtle nests each year. The beach itself is closed to the public through the June-to-September nesting season, reachable only on foot or via an organised ecological tour, part of a monitoring effort at Lara running since 1976.
