About Timios Stavros
Timios Stavros stands in the Troodos village of Pelendri, built around the mid-12th century and altered across later periods. It is one of ten monuments on UNESCO's Painted Churches in the Troodos Region list, inscribed in 1985, and the only one sited in the Limassol district rather than Nicosia. Wall-painting fragments from 1171-1172 survive beneath a fuller scheme added in the second half of the 14th century, in the Palaiologan style. Its north aisle once served as a private chapel for the Lusignan feudal lord who held the village.
