About Timios Stavros Church
This church southwest of Anogyra was built at the end of the 15th century on the foundations of an early Christian basilica, part of a monastery settlement dating to the 14th century. The single-nave church, roofed with vaults and a tall dome, holds frescoes in the Palaeologan style. Though significantly deteriorated, they remain notable examples of Palaeologan painting in Cyprus. Remains of two earlier three-aisled basilicas and an ancient settlement lie nearby.
