Stavros tis Psokas sits deep in the Paphos Forest, where British colonial foresters fenced off pine slopes in the 1930s to protect the Cyprus mouflon, the island's native wild sheep, after decades of hunting had pushed it toward extinction. The enclosure by the forestry station still holds a breeding herd, best seen grazing in early morning or through the cooler winter months. It anchors a wider forest station with picnic grounds and trailheads into the surrounding hills.
