About St Luke's Church, Kouklia
Rebuilt in 1895 after an earthquake destroyed its predecessor, the Church of the Apostle Luke stands on the central square of Kouklia, a village in the Paphos district built over the ancient city of Palaepaphos. It seats 250 to 300 worshippers in a stone-built nave carried on wooden arches, under a flat concrete roof, and holds an old icon of its patron saint whose date is unrecorded. In mid-October the village marks Saint Luke's feast day with a religious fair centred on the church.
