About Marcello Hill
Marcello Hill lies northeast of Kouklia village, part of the defensive perimeter of ancient Palaipaphos, the city built around the sanctuary of Aphrodite. Archaeologists have cleared a stretch of city wall here running roughly 90 metres, with a rectangular tower projecting from its outer face at the southeast end. Ongoing excavation on the neighbouring Laona tumulus, between Marcello and Hadjiabdullah, continues to add to the picture of the city's fortifications.
