About St' George
The chapel of Saint George stands in the Alyki area of Chloraka, marking the spot where EOKA leader Georgios Grivas (Digenis) landed on 10 November 1954. It was built at the expense of the benefactor Zina Cather de Tyras, with its foundation stone laid on 16 July 1961, construction carried out by the contractor Charalambos A. Filippou, and frescoes added by the brothers Georgios and Alexandros Konstantinidis. Cather also funded the paved road connecting the village to the chapel. Today it is a small, popular venue for weddings.
