About Biserica Metamorfosi Sotiros

Kissonerga's Church of Metamorphosis Sotiros was built in 1906 on the site of an earlier, smaller church of the same dedication, parts of which are still visible inside. Villagers raised it from stones salvaged from the ruins of Vigla, part of the ancient settlement at nearby Mosphilia, along with material gathered from elsewhere in the village. It stood unused for decades before its official inauguration in 1956, and its iconostasis and wall-mounted entrance remain its defining features.
