About Panagia Podithou
Panagia Podithou stands in the Solea valley just north of Galata, built in 1502 as the katholicon of a monastery, funded by Demetre de Coron and his wife Helen. It is one of the ten Troodos painted churches inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage list since 1985. Never fully decorated, its surviving murals blend Byzantine tradition with Italian Renaissance style, including apostles Peter and Paul on the north wall.
