About Museum of Famagusta's history
Built in 1998 on the edge of the UN buffer zone in Deryneia, this museum documents Famagusta's history before the Turkish invasion of 1974, when the city held some 40,000 residents. Photographs, posters and artefacts recreate daily life in the pre-war city, alongside an audiovisual room. A rooftop platform looks out across the buffer zone toward Varosha, the resort district abandoned since 1974.
