About Holy Cross
The Church of Timios Stavros, or Holy Cross, stands on a large plot at the centre of Akrotiri village on the peninsula south of Limassol. Built in the early 20th century from stone and concrete, it is a single-aisled, barrel-vaulted structure crowned with a central dome. Verandas supported on concrete pillars run along three sides, a bell tower rises at the southeast corner, and the floor carries marble mosaics in contrasting black, red and white.
