About Church of the Holy Cross of Agiasmati
Hidden in the hills near Platanistasa, this steep-roofed chapel was built at the end of the 15th century as the katholicon of a small monastery, funded by the priest Petros Peratis and his wife. Its timber roof extends into a portico on all four sides, a feature unique in Cyprus. Inside, murals painted around 1494 form one of the most complete surviving fresco cycles from that period, part of the UNESCO-listed painted churches of the Troodos.
