About Amphitheatre
Amphitheatre Bay lies on the Akamas Peninsula's north coast, reached along the coastal trail past a small cave. Once a Roman-era stone quarry, later used by the British Army as a firing range, it takes its name from the curved rock walls carved by two thousand years of sea action, a shape divers say resembles an amphitheatre. The flat, sandy seabed suits beginners and snorkellers, with a second chamber lit by a vertical rock opening. The turquoise Blue Lagoon lies a short walk further along the coast.
