About Transfiguration of the Saviour Church
The Church of the Transfiguration of the Saviour stands in Palaichori, a Troodos village in the Nicosia district, built in the early 16th century with a timber roof typical of the region's mountain churches. A narthex was added on its west and south sides by the early 1600s. It is one of ten monuments on UNESCO's Painted Churches in the Troodos Region list, and holds one of the most complete post-Byzantine mural series in Cyprus, painted by an unknown artist drawing on Palaiologan tradition with Western touches.
