About Stavros tis Minthis
Stavros tis Minthis stands three kilometres from Tsada, founded in the twelfth century and rebuilt in stone in 1745 under the Metropolitan of Paphos, Ioakim. Tradition holds that Frankish monks found the church's cross hidden among wild mint trees after it had been carried off, and named the recovered site for the herb, minthi in French. The Byzantine-era limestone building now sits beside Cyprus's first golf course, Minthis Hills, laid out around it.
