About Local Archaeological Kourion Museum
This museum in Episkopi occupies the former home of George McFadden, the University of Pennsylvania archaeologist who directed excavations at ancient Kourion from 1934 to 1953. Opened in 1969, its two halls run from Bronze Age red-polished pottery and Mycenaean gold jewellery through Cypro-Geometric and Roman burial goods, with a room devoted to finds from the Kourion basilica. Among its exhibits are the skeletal remains of residents killed in the 4th-century earthquakes that struck the city, found in situ in a Roman house.
