About Kykkos Watermill
Built by the monks of Kykkos Monastery in the 16th century, this watermill in the Marathasa valley ground wheat and barley for villagers from Kalopanagiotis, Moutoullas and beyond. The monastery sold it off in 1937 after centuries of use, and the last wheel in the valley stopped turning in 1953. The building complex survives intact and is protected as a heritage monument, reached today along a marked nature trail that also passes a 16th-century Venetian bridge.
