About EOKA Hideout 1955-59
This hideout was built inside the Omodos home of Aristos and Maroulla Theodorou on instructions from EOKA commander Grigoris Afxentiou during the 1955-59 anti-colonial struggle. Security forces surrounded the house and captured the fighters inside. The site was later renovated and relocated to a hall in the village monastery in 1999, funded by the Historical Memory Council of the EOKA Struggle and the church, and now displays fighters' personal items, uniforms, documents and photographs.
