About Church of Archangelos Michail
The Church of Archangelos Michail stands in the village of Pedoulas in the Marathasa valley of the Troodos mountains. Built and decorated in 1474, it is one of the nine painted Byzantine churches of the Troodos region inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List in 1985. Its two interior levels are covered in frescoes depicting the Virgin and New Testament scenes, painted in a post-Byzantine style. The interior has no electric lighting except a switch near the entrance.
