About Ancient Basilica
This Early Christian basilica stands within the Ancient Kourion site near Episkopi, built in the 5th century AD as the settlement's principal church. The complex held a three-aisled main hall with a single apse, a smaller basilica with a baptistery, and a bishop's residence nearby. Kourion was already in decline after 4th-century earthquakes and was abandoned following 7th-century Arab raids, leaving the basilica's foundations among the site's ruins.
