About Sanctuary of Apollo Hylates
The Sanctuary of Apollo Hylates sits about 2.5 kilometres west of Kourion, dedicated to Hylates, a native Cypriot woodland god later merged with the Greek Apollo. Worship here ran from around the 8th century BC to the 4th century AD, though most of the standing remains date to a 1st-century AD Roman rebuild, including a temple with distinctive Nabatean columns and a circular monument likely used for processions around a sacred tree.
