House and small museum of martyred Bishop Lavrentios in Kalopanayiotis, Marathasa valley.

About House of Lavrentios
Lavrentios, later bishop of Kyrenia, was born in this house in Kalopanayiotis in 1750 and lived there until age sixteen, attending school at the nearby Monastery of Ayios Ioannis Lambadistis. He was executed by the Ottomans in 1821. The house stands a few metres from the village river and was declared an ancient monument in 1987. One ground-floor room, kept in its original state, is now a small museum to his memory; the rest was restored as a cultural centre.
