About Catacombs
On Apostolou Pavlou Avenue in Kato Paphos, these rock-cut catacombs, known as Agia Solomoni, date to the Hellenistic period and were likely quarried for stone before being reused as a burial place and, by legend, a refuge for early Christians. An open courtyard leads into five chambers, one holding a spring and another with traces of early wall paintings. A terebinth tree stands over the entrance, its branches hung with cloth offerings. Free to enter, open at all hours.
