About Archaeological Museum of Larnaca

Opened in 1969 near the Kition-Bamboula excavation site, the Larnaca District Archaeological Museum traces the district's history from the Neolithic to the Roman period across four rooms. Early galleries hold flint tools and pottery from Choirokoitia and Kalavasos and Mycenaean-era ceramics with imported Egyptian faience; later rooms show Cypro-Geometric terracotta horse-and-rider figurines, Kition coinage and Roman glassware. A replica of the Sargon II stele greets visitors at the entrance, alongside a faience sceptre bearing Pharaoh Horemheb's cartouche and a diademed limestone head dated to 550-525 BC.
