About Agios Kendeas
Agios Kendeas stands in the commercial centre of Paphos, near Archbishop Makarios III Avenue, one of the few Cypriot churches, and the only urban one, dedicated to this saint. Built in 1923 and formally inaugurated in 1952, it is a three-aisled church with a dome and twin bell towers. Kendeas was a monk who fled persecution to practise asceticism on the Paphos coast before becoming known for miracles; he is honoured here every 6 October.
