About
Fikardou is a preserved traditional village on the southeastern slopes of the Troodos in the Nicosia district, at around 900 metres in the Pitsilia region. Declared an ancient monument in 1978 and a Europa Nostra winner, its well-kept stone houses and folk architecture make it an open-air heritage site, home to the Fikardou Rural Museum in two restored eighteenth-century manors. It is on Cyprus's UNESCO tentative list, and hosts seasonal events such as its Christmas village.
