Η Γκαλερί Γκλόρια έχει την χαρά να παρουσιάσει από τις 9 έως 23 Οκτωβρίου 2026, το νέο εικαστικό εγχείρημα της Μάριον Πασχάλη, με τίτλο <> το οποίο εγκλείει μία προσωπική μυθολογία όπου ελεύθερα συνδέεται το φιλοσοφείν με την επιστήμη.

Ιστορικά, ο «Κήπος» ήταν η φιλοσοφική σχολή που ίδρυσε στην Αθήνα ο Επίκουρος το 306 π.χ. Εκεί, ήταν όλοι ευπρόσδεκτοι ανεξαρτήτου κοινωνικής θέσης ή φύλου. Ακρογωνιαίος λίθος σε αυτή την κοινότητα ήταν η φιλία. Ο Επίκουρος για να θεμελιώσει το ηθικό του σύστημα ξεκινά με την

επιστημονική γνώση. Θεωρούσε ότι η γνώση της φύσης του σύμπαντος και της κίνησης των ατόμων ήταν προϋπόθεση για μια ζωή απαλλαγμένη από δεισιδαιμονίες και φόβο. Με τέτοιο τρόπο αποκτούσε κανείς τον ατάραχο βίο, βάση της ευδαιμονίας.

Αν για τον Επίκουρο εφαλτήριο στάθηκε η ατομική θεωρία, για την καλλιτέχνιδα γίνεται η θεωρία των χορδών.

Αυτή η θεωρία προτείνει ότι τα θεμελιώδη συστατικά του σύμπαντος είναι απειροελάχιστες χορδές που πάλλονται, με αποτέλεσμα η ύλη να είναι στην ουσία συμπυκνωμένη ενέργεια που παίρνει μορφή μέσω διαφορετικών τρόπων δόνησης. Με βάση αυτή την υπόθεση, προσεγγίζεται η φύση της πραγματικότητας με ολιστικό τρόπο. Ο άνθρωπος και το σύμπαν, αποτελούνται από τις ίδιες δονούμενες χορδές ενέργειας, πράγμα που τους καθιστά εκδηλώσεις μιας ενιαίας κοσμικής ενέργειας. Οι σκέψεις, η φαντασία του ανθρώπου, η ίδια η συνείδηση δεν βρίσκονται αποκλεισμένες στον εγκέφαλο, αλλά ως μορφές ενέργειας αλληλεπιδρούν με τα δονητικά πεδία του σύμπαντος και συνδιαμορφώνουν την πραγματικότητα.

Εμπνευσμένο από την παραπάνω οπτική, το έργο της καλλιτέχνιδος παρουσιάζει μία εξελισσόμενη δόνηση μέσω της απροβλεπτικότητας του χορού των κλωστών ή των νημάτων πάνω στην επιφάνεια του καμβά, τα οποία συμβολίζουν τις παλλόμενες χορδές. Το κάρβουνο ως πρωταρχική ύλη και συμπυκνωμένη ενέργεια που διαστέλλεται και μεταβάλλεται, συμβολίζει τη κοσμική σκόνη που αλλάζει φόρμα στα πρώτα στάδια του σχηματισμού ενός άστρου. Η καλλιτεχνική ευρηματικότητα επιτρέπει στην φαντασία να μετουσιώνεται σε όχημα σύλληψης, όχι τόσο της υλικής μορφής του κοσμικού πεδίου όπως εμφανίζεται μέσα από τις λήψεις των τηλεσκοπίων, όσο της εσωτερικής δύναμης που το διέπει.

Η νέα έκθεση συνεχίζει από την προηγούμενη δουλειά της καλλιτέχνιδος, όπου οι κλωστές λειτουργούσαν ως σύμβολα σύγχρονης μυθοπλασίας με θέμα το πέρασμα του ανθρώπου πάνω στη γη. Εδώ, κλωστές και νήματα αποκτούν επιπλέον σημασία: γίνονται ‘συνομιλία’ με διαστάσεις πέρα από τον τρισδιάστατο κόσμο, όπου και καταρρίπτεται η ψευδαίσθηση της διαιρετότητας μεταξύ της μονάδας και του όλου.

Έτσι, με αφετηρία την μεθοδολογία του Επίκουρου και αναφορά στη θεωρεία των χορδών, η καλλιτέχνης επαναδιαπραγματεύεται την έννοια της φιλίας και παρακινεί τον θεατή σε μέθεξη με την ολότητα της οικουμένης.

“In the Garden of a Universe”

Gloria Gallery is pleased to present, from 9 to 23 October 2026, Marion Paschali’s new body of work, In the Garden of a Universe: an artistic project that unfolds through a personal mythology, freely bringing philosophical thought into dialogue with science.

Historically, The Garden was the philosophical school founded by Epicurus in Athens in 306 BC. It was a place open to all, regardless of social status or gender, with friendship at the heart of its community. Epicurus grounded his ethical philosophy in an understanding of the natural world. He believed that knowledge of the nature of the universe and the movement of atoms was essential to a life freed from superstition and fear. Such understanding could lead to ataraxia, a state of inner tranquillity, which he regarded as fundamental to human flourishing.

If atomic theory provided Epicurus with his point of departure, for the artist that point of departure is string theory.

String theory proposes that the fundamental constituents of the universe are infinitesimally small, vibrating strings, suggesting a vision of matter as energy taking form through different modes of vibration. From this perspective, reality may be imagined holistically: human beings and the universe are composed of the same vibrating energy, becoming expressions of a shared cosmic whole. Within the conceptual world of the exhibition, thought, imagination and consciousness are therefore not presented as confined solely to the mind, but as forms of energy entering into dialogue with the vibrational fields of the universe and participating in the shaping of reality.

Inspired by this vision, the artist’s work evokes an evolving vibration through the unpredictable dance of threads and fibres across the surface of the canvas, where they become symbols of vibrating strings. Charcoal, a primordial material and a form of concentrated energy capable of expanding and transforming, comes to suggest cosmic dust changing form during the earliest stages of a star’s formation.

Through artistic invention, imagination becomes a means of apprehending not so much the physical appearance of the cosmos (since the universe as revealed to us through telescopic images) but the unseen force that animates and governs it.

This new exhibition develops ideas first explored in the artist’s earlier work, in which threads functioned as symbols within a contemporary mythology concerned with humanity’s passage through the world. Here, threads and fibres acquire another dimension. They become a form of “conversation” with realities extending beyond the three-dimensional world, dissolving the illusion of separation between the individual and the whole.

Drawing on Epicurus’ way of looking at the world, while taking string theory as a contemporary point of reference, Paschali reconsiders the meaning of friendship itself. The exhibition invites the viewer beyond friendship understood only as a bond between individuals, towards a deeper sense of communion. It is an experience of participation in, and connection with, the greater wholeness of the universe.
