The Makarios III Amphitheatre stands in the grounds of the School for the Blind in Nicosia, a large open-air stone theatre built in the 1950s and counted the oldest modern amphitheatre in Cyprus. It seats well over a thousand on its tiers and is one of the capital's main summer stages for theatre and concerts, managed by the Cyprus Theatre Organisation.
